  • BESTDO – Directional high-pressure hoses

    BESTDO – Directional high-pressure hoses

Often, directional hoses used with machine tools are constructed from plastic, a versatile and flexible material. However, they cannot be used in conjunction with higher pressure coolant systems. The plastic can chip, crack and cause vibrations, which can not only send the coolant to the wrong place but can also cause significant damage to your tools and machinery.

BESTDO have solved this problem, they have developed a system which can save you money in the long run — working in close cooperation with a renowned machine tool manufacturer. They have produced a hose that is manufactured in metal, making it resistant to chips, vibrations and pressure.

BESTDO hoses use a compact ball screwcap design with a sealing ring configuration, which is available in two different diameters – 6mm and 10mm – ensuring that you can find one that fits your current machine tool. BESTDO hoses are quick to install, alleviating extensive periods of downtime in your production process.

BESTDO hoses are fully adjustable, flexible, and fixable by tightening and loosening the screw caps, allowing additional sections to increase the hose’s length and manoeuvrability.  Extra components can be added to create bespoke hoses that suit your needs or space, with each hose being directly mountable into your workspace. These different options allow you to find the best match for your existing machine.

  • New Website – Pumps and Equipment

New Website – Pumps and Equipment

2020 has been an unusual year for so many reasons, but it has also been a big year for change. At Pumps & Equipment, it’s no different.

We are proud to announce the launch of our new website.

The new website has some fantastic features which we are confident will be of great benefit to our customers. In the rebuild, we wanted to focus on improving the design of our site, making the website’s appearance much more contemporary and up to date. We also wanted to ensure that the site was easy to navigate, so users could find the products and services they need quickly and easily.

The rebuild also meant that we could make our existing website, which was over five years old and somewhat dated, more robust and secure. We’re now able to offer a faster, fluent and fully responsive experience across all devices.

After making the decision that a change was needed, we immediately went to Formation Media, a digital marketing agency based in Warwick that we’ve been working with for the past ten years. We’ve formed a strong ongoing working relationship, and we are delighted with the quality of website that they have provided, as well as the project management from our account manager, Dave Dunlop.

As well as a huge consideration for our customers, we also needed to make sure that the website was easy to use internally. Formation Media implemented an easy-to-use WordPress content management system. This has made it easier for us to update the website with products and content, allowing us to have hundreds of pages of content without having to work tirelessly to manage and make changes to them.

We hope that both new and existing customers find our new website effective and easy to use. If you have any questions about it, or would like any further information about the products and services on the website, please get in touch with our team today

SKIM-IT – The Tramp Oil Remover New Service: Bespoke Mounting Kits and Catch Tank Fabrication

Mounting Kits & Catchment Tank Fabrication:

Our partners, SKIM-IT are pleased to announce that they can now offer bespoke mounting kits, allowing the belt or disk skimmer to be fitted to almost any machine. Due to customer requests, SKIM-IT can now also offer tailor-made fabricated catchment tanks.

    How SKIM-IT works

Tramp oil begins to build up in the coolant tank when your machinery starts to produce grease and oil, often found in modern machine tools. This is often produced from the hydraulic press, gearboxes, spindles and sideways lubrication systems. Skimmers work by running a disk or belt through the coolant and tramp oil mixture to septate the two substances.

Benefits of Skim-It Belt and Disk Skimmers:

    • Longer coolant life
    • Reduced operating costs
    • Removes bacterial build-up
    • Reduced smell and odour
    • H&S – reduces the risk of dermatitis to operators
    • Alleviates product contamination
    • Removes tramp oil
    • Assists with debris removal
    • Helps remove slideway oil
    • One-year warranty

Providing the coolant contamination solution for your CNC machine tools

At SKIM-IT our goal is to help and support the UK’s general engineering process, by offering a range of high-quality oil skimming products and ensuring that their business receives a high return on investment.

We’ve been able to provide a large number of businesses with a low-cost solution for dealing with tramp oil. Each one of our units is designed to be compact and durable, along with a one-year warranty.

We’re proud to be presenting our range of SKIM-IT oil skimmers, with this range you can remove tramp oil from your coolant tank more effectively and efficiently.

Tramp oil begins to build up in the coolant tank when your machinery starts to produce grease and oil, often found in modern machine tools. This is often produced from the hydraulic press, gearboxes, spindles and sideways lubrication systems.

Skimmers work by running a disk or belt through the coolant and tramp oil mixture to separate the two substances. If skimmers aren’t used, it can cause a build-up of tramp oil and affect the coolant quality, causing a severely unpleasant smell and increased risk of workers handling it, developing skin problems such as dermatitis. A build-up of tramp oil also increases the deterioration rate of your coolant fluid, costing your business more to replace and dispose of your existing coolant and tramp oil solution.

SKIM-IT belt skimmers can effectively move the tramp oil to the surface of the coolant tank, regardless of the amount of oil that is on the top of the liquid coolant. Using our belt skimmers, you will be able to process up to twelve litres of contaminated oil per hour. Each one is able to withstand temperatures between eighty to one hundred degrees Celsius. We have two versions available, the 110v and the 240v making it easier for you to find the right skimmer that fits your needs.

SKIM-IT disk skimmers work in a similar way, but the disk can be smooth or have grooves (depending on how much oil needs to be collected) on each side, helping to collect more oil as they move through the solution. Disk skimmers are the perfect solution for small to medium-sized coolant tanks, as they can be fitted to any flat surface that has access to the coolant and oil mixture. With our disk skimmers, you will be able to process up to fifteen litres per hour of the contaminated coolant.
